On October 3, I accompanied a group of about 40 Whitman College students to a protest advocating for the removal of four dams along the lower Snake River in southeast Washington state. Over 300 people had come together in canoes, kayaks, and rowboats, with their kids and their dogs and their banners to show their support for a plan to restore salmon to the Snake by removing the dams. Even though I have a lot of thoughts swimming around in my head, these shots of the flotilla will have to stand in for verbal analysis this time.
